Default Media Player 9 and Windows 98SE

Hello!

I am interested in purchasing a mp3 player that I can
download music onto. Since I lack computer savy-ness, does
anyone have a recommendation for a model that will work
with Media Player 9 on my Windows 98SE OS? There are so
many players out there, I just get confused. Microsoft, on
their site, has a page that recommends players for Media
Player 9 for use with the Windows 98 XP version. Don't
know if these players would work with the Windows 98 SE as
well.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Clare

No product suggestion, but depending on the cost, perhaps in the long run
burning to CD would be more economical? By burning to CD you have both
portability and archival ability. Does the desired MP3 player require
power to remember the tunes? Battery backup? How much will it cost in
batteries? Can you use an adapter to use it with AC?

You don't need a distinct and separate hardware to download MP3s for saving
and playing. Adequate HD space or burner will do nicely.
If you want to carry this music around for playing, you didn't say that. If
you want to transport this music to another location, you didn't say that.
WMP9 will play mp3s on 98SE systems directly from HD or CD. Nero will burn
to mini-disc CD from the HD. You just need a burner. Unlike cda audio
format, there's nothing special about burning MP3 files on CD.
What exactly are you attempting to do?
