DSL router
Hello all,
I am wondering how do I setup my pc for printer sharing. The pc is connected to a DSL router, and the laptop connects to the DSL router through a wireless card. Currently, the pc can print to the printer, because there is a direct connection between the printer and the pc. I'd like to know how do I give my laptop the capability of printing to the printer. I am using windows98 on my pc and windows xp on my laptop. I have been working on this for a couple of hours, and I still do not know how the functionality is done. All I know is that a file/printer sharing network has to be esablished by the pc which is directly connected to the printer. If anyone can provide detailed steps on accomplishing the task, I will be very greatful.... |

Look here for file and printer sharing details http://www.wown.com I'll make a guess that the firewall on the xp machine is blocking the connection. Check that first and make sure there is an exception for file and printer sharing (if you are using the built in windows firewall). Jim. |

It will make all the necessary settings on both computers and will share the printer: XP ICS - Starting the Network Setup Wizard http://www.practicallynetworked.com/...rksetupwiz.htm If you can't use a floppy disk and don't have a Windows XP CD-ROM, copy the Wizard's file to a USB flash drive or CD-R on the XP laptop, then run it on the Windows 98 PC: C:\Windows\System32\Netsetup.exe Tell the Wizard that the computers connect to the Internet through a residential gateway. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
