Default Browser dialog box in IE
My friend has SBC DSL with Windows Me. Sometimes when she clicks on a
link, it will ask (in a dialog box) if she wants the browser to be the default browser. We are aware of the Tools/Internet Options checkbox for asking that. I believe it is unchecked. Do you know why occasionally it will ask that, if the checkbox (in Internet Options) is unchecked? I don't have access to her computer right here. I believe she had the problem before got DSL, which was about 2 years ago. She rarely had the problem for over 2 years; it sometimes seems to be happening again. I believe she uses only IE although SBC has done something to it. (I'm sorry for asking also in XP but I'm not sure what is different between ME and XP.) |

Uninstall the browsers your not using. We are aware of the Tools/Internet Options checkbox for asking that. I believe it is unchecked. I believe this should be checked. |

Default Browser dialog box in IE
That checkbox description says IE should check to see if it is the
default browser. Does that have to do with the dialog box that says "Do you want to make IE your default browser"? Or does that mean that when you click on a link, IE should check to see if it is the default browser so Windows will know what to do? |

Default Browser dialog box in IE
Of course you can. If you make IE the default browser, when you start
Netscape it will tell you so and offer to change it back or not to warn you again. Even if Netscape was set to be your default browser that should not cause the problems you describe in IE.
