Default presto page manager

Page Manager comes bundled with vistascan software.
After reloading windows ME page manager refuses to load, having been OK with
windows ME before. Software company says it is a fault with the operating
system.
Any experience with a similar problem? any solutions or suggestions greatly
welcomed.

Hi and sorry for delay in getting back.

Some months ago 'me' refused to load. I re-formatted the hard drive,
reinstalled 'me' but no joy. Took machine to local reputable repair shop who
sorted the problem by re-partitioning the disk before re-installing 'me'
again, this time successfully.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Hmm - I suspect that the shop must have done something else, as well, since
simply re-partitioning shouldn't have made any difference.
Have you installed all the updates from Windows Update??

Which version of PPM are you trying to install?
http://uk.newsoft.eu.com/redir/other_all.asp?category=faq&product=Presto!%20PageM anager&version=4.2.x&faq=PM42x
may help - what exact errors ar you getting? - where/when??

Thank you for your interest.

I went to the Newsoft website you mentioned and downloaded a patch to solve
the problem of Presto freezing in 'me'. Then I installed the patch and
restarted the computer.....or rather tried to! But, nightmare, the computer
froze at a hanging cursor, identical to the problem necessitating visit to
aforementioned shop! Again like then, when I switched off and then rebooted,
I was offered safe mode. Happily Microsoft Support appeared and offered me
the option of reverting back to previous settings. This worked, so I am now
able to boot the computer again. But the problem with Presto (version 4.20W)
remains, and what has happened suggests that my old computer problem may have
been caused by Presto?!

When Presto freezes and I do ctrl-alt-del I get 'MSQSRV32 (NOT RESPONDING)'
and everything else slows down. I've also had 'PRESTOPM (NOT RESPONDING)'
and 'MMTASK(NOT RESPONDING)' but not every time. Presto seems to corrupt
things. After trying to run it and trying then to shut down, I get a blank
black window headed 'REGENV32'.

Any idea what is going on?

Many thanks.
