Hi, Pep. I'm curious as the the registry key that contains this value. I

Thanks (and nice slueth work to find it),

I had a fiddle with the registry, and changed the DefaultRcvWindow value

from
2144 to 34432640. Solved it.

The OS shouldn't affect your connection speed. I regularly pull 1,290 to
1,301 downloads with SBC Yahoo! DSL Service on their 1,536kpbs Express
package. PPPoE and ATM overhead eat the difference between what I

actually
get and my potential maximum; all with Windows ME.

USB 1.1 should be good for 12Mbps, considerably higher than your 2Mbps
maximum.

Have you tweaked your MTU settings in the Windows ME computer? It should

be
capable of matching the Windows XP dl/ul speeds.

Go he

http://www.broadbandreports.com/

Look for their tweaks section. They have a nice guide, and some
downloadable tools which help find, and set, both MTU and RWIN.

Thanks, Norman. Interesting reading although I don't see any downloads for
WinME.

I also searched my registry and found absolutely no DefaultRcvWindow
entries.

Now I'm surprised RoadRunner even works lol

Really? Did you miss this?

I am not sure where the RWIN value is stored. It is set on my WinME
computer, but plugging the value (30324) into a registry search draws a
blank.

Thanks, Norman. I did miss that. My system's been struggling a bit as of
late and I've gotten it running smoothly again.

I did save your link to my favorites and may look at it later. Right now
I'm taking a hands off approach and just using the system without changing
or adding anything.

Thanks again, Norman.

Hi KB,

Norm's right you can find info on that web-site. The actual site I used
which contained details of Win ME tweaks was this one:
http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=119
The only tweak I made was the first one.

There's a handy download called Dr TCP (just search using google) which you
can also use to tweak your registry without manually having do it in regedit.

Hope this helps.
