Default Want to reinstall ME

My computer does not run any good any more. I would like
to do a repair off the rescue cd rom, but my computer will
not do it thing. Which is, load the cd and shut down, then
restart and follow instructions. But when I restart it
starts as normal. Thanks Rosebob

Reinstalling the system is the last resort, if you post here with the
problems that you have with error messages and what you are doing at the
time I'm sure someone will be able to help. In the meantime here are two
sites you can look at if you do decide to reinstall.
look here for instructions for a clean install

The major bugbear with our computer is:- when I go to shut
down the computer it comes up with all sorts of errors.
For example, nView has caused an error, then you click
close, and something else comes up.This could happen a few
times, (not always the same programs) then always it comes
up with Explorer has caused an error, I click close and
that is the end, it freezes. The only way to turn it off
is to reset or hold the off button for a few seconds. If
you reset it , it will load up again and you can shut it
down with no problem. Sorry but don't have any specific
error messages, but there is not much detail at
shutdown. But I will write every thing down from now on.

I think that it has to do with your graphics card, do you have NVidia
drivers, if so I think you should install the latest drivers for your
system from the manufacturer.
Also have a look here for shutdown problems
