Default Plug and Play Download Needed

Unless you're looking to participate in an illegal fraud, you need to
PURCHASE Windows 98SE. Best place I know is EBay. There is no such thing as
a legitimate free download of Windows 98SE.

Why do you need this software? What version of Windows are you using now?

Where in the OP's post did he say he was looking for a free copy of
98?

There is nothing illegitimate about downloading Windows-98se.

The only thing that's technically not allowed is using a license key
that is in current use when you agree to the EULA as you install it.

But even in that case, since Micro$loth no longer supports nor sells
Win-98se, I whole-heartedly recommend, advice, and encourage anyone
who wants to install and use Windows-98se that they do so any which
way they can, even if it includes using product keys found on the
internet.

But that is not really the point in this case.

The OP does not say that he's trying to acquire a win-98se CD or
license key.

It appears he's trying to connect or add some new piece of hardware to
his win-98 system, and it's asking for a driver.

The OP is being a moron by not being more specific regarding what
hardware he's adding or connecting to his system.

No need to froth Gary.

Your lack of grasp on well-crafted sarcasm, your lack of a good
come-back, is expected.

Why don't you answer the question that was posed?

Why don't you explain what you read into the OP's post?

Or have you taken MEB's course in advanced diversionary discussion?

Where in the OP's post did he say he was looking for a free

Answer the question MVP Gary.

I don't respond to the idiot and haven't for years. Have him blocked under
his usual name "98 Guy".He's an idiot and I haven't the time to perpetually
explain things to idiots. I'm here to help people who need computer help,
not mental help or special education.

Since you are obviously another poser, someone I've also probably blocked
already, that's as far as I go with you, too. Besides, you are not an MVP
and are thus a liar. You are also stealing my domain for your fake email
address. Thief!

But I'll answer your question. To me this is OBVIOUSLY a case of someone who
got a piece of hardware that requires Win98SE and the OP only has FE. If
that isn't obvious to you, maybe you're an idiot, too. Or just someone who
doesn't know jack about Windows, like the other idiot usually known as 98
Guy.

Maybe he wants a link to a program that enables tour Windows 98 to install
USB flash drivers simultaneously as you plug them in the computer?

The phrase "Plug and Play Software" has always been taken to mean the OS
itself, but perhaps mass storage drivers are what's called for. Even then,
that would require 98SE. Won't know unless the OP comes back.

That's pretty lame Gary.

Please provide at least ONE example where any version of windows was
refered to as "plug and play software".

In fact, why don't you provide an example where "plug and play" was
used to describe any software?

The fact is that "plug and play" is universally used to describe
hardware. PERIOD.

You screwed up in your interpretation and assessment of the OP's
question, and you jumped to the wrong conclusion that the OP was
looking for a free copy of win-98.

And the OP is a chicken-**** coward for not coming back here and
clarifying his stupid-ass question.

You're wrong. On all counts. PnP is the WINDOWS SERVICE that allows
PnP-ready hardware to be installed more easily.
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system...p/default.mspx

If you can't recall, that's your problem. but at least in the 9x days,
Windows was tagged with "Plug & Play" all over the place.

I NEVER said that PnP *wasn't a service*

(although technically I'm not sure you can say it's a service on a
win-9x system like it is on an NT-based system)

I NEVER said that PnP wasn't something that Windows wasn't compatible
with or knew how to handle.

Saying that Windows ITSELF is "PnP" is absurd and is an incorrect use
of the term PnP.

Why are you going to such lengths to defend your cracked
interpretation of the OP's post?

It's OK Gary. It's OK to admit that you made a conceptual mis-reading
of the OP.

No need to dig yourself into an intellectual hole. This isin't a big
deal.

in the 9x days, Windows was tagged with "Plug & Play" all over
the place.

If someone wants to know where they can download Windows 98, don't you
think they'd ask:

I'm looking to download Windows 98SE.

But when someone says this:

I'm looking for the Windows 98SE Plug and Play software.
I need it for my new hardware.

Don't you think they're asking for drivers for their "new" hardware (a
peripheral device of some sort, probably a USB device) that's being
connected to their existing win-98se system?

Don't you think that if someone really was asking for a way to
download Windows itself, that it would be XP they'd be asking for?
Why would anyone with "new" hardware (ie - a new computer) be looking
for Win-98 and not XP?
