When you try to print from MS-DOS mode, a Command Prompt or from an MS-DOS-based
program you may be unable to access a USB-connected printer. USB printers may have proprietary port designations that do not use standard LPT or PRN port settings. Connect the printer with a standard parallel port, if equipped, or contact the printer manufacturer for an emulation driver, if available. There is a full featured USB driver for your printer on the HP site, you might want to try it... http://tinyurl.com/6meq4 -- Mary Sauer MS MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://www.mvps.org/msauer/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "sagar k. parit." wrote in message ... dear sir i have printer model no. hp deskjet 5160. when i try to take prient in dos it gives massage that error writing on lpt1. acually printer is connected on usb port. can i take print in dos? i use win 98. please send me reply. sagar. |

Have a look at Printfil. It allows character based apps. (like DOS) to print to Windows printers (including USB).
