Yes....Norton was not metioned at the beginning, so I didn't know about
that until now. It does put a different light into the mix....a black
light as it may be. However, not many users realize what most things
Norton can do to ME, or even any of the other OS's for that matter, but,
especially ME.

I thought Noel handled it quite well.....although...I swear I heard that

Hi Jan, sorry for so long getting back. I was pretty certain that Noel would
respond as he did (as he does!!) and didn't want to overstate his potential
reaction for fear of pushing his blood pressure up - and thanks Joan, for
noting the same :-

lol That's an understatement if ever I saw one g

However, it will be nice to hear from mph170, whenever (s)he is ready, to
learn if progress has been made. Let's hope things have worked out ok.

BTW - can't remember if I sent my congrats, on you becoming MVP (on the
'other' closed group) - so if not, congrats!! Enjoy your Summit g

Hi mph :-)

Thanks again for the responses. I do like a challenge, so I will set down
Monday morning and first start with the startup-A drive scenario. I will
then
hopefully proceed to option 2, Cd-rom support to identify my drive letter.
At
the A prompt, I will insert a data disk (can this be the recovery disk?)
into
the Cd-rom, will type E: and then press return as I sing 'Anticipation.'
At
the E prompt, I'll type DIR /P, press return, while singing the second
verse.
Yep, I'll return to this group and give my 'exact' results.

The plan sounds good. I am glad you decided to see what can be done to
restore the system first. Do mind the crystal stemware on the high notes,
though. g

Thanks Jan for your advise on the Me system. After pricing the new shiny
packages, I think a larger hard drive and what ever else is needed will
work
fine with Win Pro. My tax software group requires Win Pro for 2006 so
should
I just upgrade the Me, after it is working properly, or should I buy the
entire program and start fresh? It will be nice to be back in the
'reliable
computer' bookkeeping and income tax business again. I'll post again on
Monday. Thanks.

Follow Noel's advice on the upgrade, as long as you have the necessary CD
for the qualifying application as he stated there should be no problem. If
not, then you'll need to buy the stand-alone version.

Have a great weekend and we'll check back on Monday. :-)

Thanks, Mart! Still getting my feet wet, but, and things are very exciting.
I am really looking forward to my first Summit, and getting a chance to meet
all those who'll be attending in person. Are you going to be there as well?

You and I are going to have to have some *serious* discussions (over

Ahmmm....do I get to pick my ice cream sherbet first....??? I promise not
to drool down the back of your neck....

You really must make it to Seattle....it may well be the only time I will be
able to pick on each other in person.......given that we can understand each
other! Me and my Southern drawl, and you and you Welsh accent.. I shall
send you a booklet called 'How To Talk Southern' so that you can
translate.....vbg

Jan

PS...you may have noticed that I have deleted the other group at this
point......as they may not totally understand the history of the 'ice cream'
part as the folks here do. ;o)

I already talk Southern - just English Southern, rather than Dixie.
I'm not a native, just a Scotsman born in England and living in Wales.....
which makes me a mongrel at best
