Default Copying data to CD-RW

Hi,
I have an ICE-CD R/RW 8x4x32 drive and I've just bought a box of Verbatim
Hi-Speed CD-RW disks (8x-12x). Every time I try to write to one of them
(using drag & drop in Explorer I get the messages:
"Cannot Copy - Access is Denied. Make sure the disk is not full or
write-protected and that the file is not currently in use" or
"Cannot create or replace - Access is Denied. Make sure the disk is not full
or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use".
I'm flummoxed - I can write to my old Imation disks OK!!!
I was assured that the new disks didn't need formatting, but I've tried
(using DirectCD) and get the error message: "Illegal Start Block Address.
(0x4000004b)
" and the fix/workaround suggested by Microsoft has no affect.
Can anyone out there help me please?

Try a different brand of recordable CDs. Many drives are sensitive to the
brand of blank disks.
