Love ME _ can I delete WinNT

I have been using WinME for a couple of years, after my Mac was stolen.
My PC is set for dual-boot between ME and XP, which exist in folders c:\WINDOWS and
c:\WINNT respectively on the same (FAT) Partition.
Before you all gasp in amazement, it was originally set-up with ME and W2K Pro - after a
year or so of using that set-up, and thinking I was a mediocre newbie, I upgraded the W2K
to XP Pro.

Eventually after a few months and manual Norton uninstalls, the XP option became less and
less usable - to the point now, where it will not boot to XP. I have the install CD but
not the repair floppy!
But I am still a happy user with the WinME available and functional.

-- What I want to do, is delete the c:\WINNT folder and keep system partition
clean/defragged --

But any uninstall options for XP (Add/Remove Progs) have long since been deleted by
myself, to save disk space when this CPU had only 16Gb divided between c:\ and d:\ - both
of which are FAT.

-- So, can I just delete the c:\WINNT folder in DOS or otherwise ? --

I have seen many info-bytes that say you cannot uninstall XP, but surely if I delete
c:\WINNT folder it will be gone, I would also have to adjust the BOOT.INI file which is
currently as below:-

[Operating Systems]
C:\="Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microso ft Windows XP Professional"

Yikes!
I'm not surprised that one of the OS's barfed in this configuration - I'm
just surprised that ME is the one that survived!!

To get to a single-boot solution the easy way, get hold of an ME boot disk
(it MUST be an ME one!!), and boot using that - at the A: prompt, type
SYS C:
remove the floppy, and reboot - then delete the WINNT folder tree using
SHIFT+DEL (to avoid it going into the Recycle bin)
You can then delete the boot.ini file altogether, and the ntldr file.

Managed it fine and works great, 8000 files less to defrag on Boot Disk - and faster
boot-up process as well.
Bonus.
Just wish I could cut down on the 12.500 files in the 1.5Gb WINDOWS folder
Never to sure how much to trust 'EasyCleaner 2' Unnecessary files option.

Simple answer - you can't trust any such application!!
There's nothing inherently wrong with EasyCleaner's approach, but it can't
cope with things that don't fit expected parameters, so unless the system is
very UNcomplex, it's almost certain to make a wrong decision at some point,
and you lose at least one app, and maybe the OS (although hopefully you'll
still have System Restore to pull you out of the mire there!)

HTH - leave the files alone, and if you need more disk space, add another
HD.
