Default Can I re-install Windows Me Upgrade edition after an Fdisk?

I'm trting to set up a Toshiba a Toshiba 2005 CDS that I had upgraded to
Windows Me. The system has a lot of junk on it and I'd prefer to just wipe
out the disk and re-install Me. But the CD I have is the upgrade edition and
I so not have a 98SE disc anywhere. Can I do this or am I toast? It has a PII
with 160 MB Ram.

borrow someone else's Win98 CD - you don't need the product key for that.

Do make sure that you have the product key for the ME install handy!!

Noel,
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, most of the 'puter people I'm
connected to are like, me, on XP Home and/or Pro or even 2000. Thus I don't
have the ability to follow your suggestion. But thanks for the shot!

If you can't find *someone* with a Win98 CD, you are in serious trouble -
but it may be worth giving Tosh a ring, and seeing if they can provide a
disk at a reasonable price.

At one point I called Microsoft and they gave me an alphanumeric that
worked. I had to talk them into it, but I could not figure out a way to
bypass this option.

I think with older versions of windows you could point the install/setup to
look at some copied files on your C drive, and as long as it found 'em, you
were good to go.

I saved that alphanumeric for later use, just in case... !
