Default msconfig

Rather than using the selective startup command.

How do I add a program into "disable startup items"?

Thanks

Sean,

What's the problem with using MSConfig and unchecking the unwanted entry
in Startup since that is its purpose and what it is designed for? One
alternative is, of course, to edit the registry directly but the reason
for MSConfig is to avoid having to use regedit and the risk of causing
irreparable damage that can result from the careless alteration or
deletion of essential registry entries.

Nevertheless the best method of removing unwanted startup entries is to do
this via the application involved, most of which have an entry on an
Options, Preferences or Configuration tab that if unchecked will remove
any startup entry.

Ive gone through the msconfig and cleared the check mark for this sony
utility program.

When I restart the program comes up again. I press the ctrl-alt-delete and
see it running there.

Was wondering what the disable startup program could do.

It sounds to me as if you need to check out the options/settings for this
unnamed utility. For example if it is part of a CD writing application,
especially if packet writing is involved where a CDRW is treated as if a
large floppy then your option is to either retain the startup entry or
uninstall the application.

Ive looked for settings or preferences for this utility, Mike.

Is there a way to utilize this "disable startup" program from Microsoft?

Again, just selected the items that I did not want to load at startup and
hung up my computer.

So at this point. I would like to move the files from the right corner of
the taskbar to the disable program.

Thanks

What program? There is none.

Of course if you don't want an application to run then you could always
uninstall it.

Since you appear to be unwilling to disclose the name of this application
I'm unable to help further so won't be responding to any further posts to
this thread.

What is the actual name of this item, as it is listed in MSCONFIG?

Check it out at http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php and
see Pacman has information on how to get rid of it.

There is probably something else running on your system that is
checking your startup and is putting the item back if it is removed.
There are a number of programs that do this sort of thing.

Good luck

Mike, the question remains:

Under start programs there is a program called "disable startup items".

How can I add/remove items to this particular program?

Thanks

I see no program called "disable startup items" under Start
programs.
If you disable an item from the Startup folder using Msconfig, you
will then have a folder called "Disabled Startup Items" to hold the
disabled startup shortcut.
It is a folder.
It is not a program.
You can add or remove shortcuts in the normal fashion.

My bad, when it was listed under programs I automatically assumed.

Alright, so I am interested in putting a particular program within this
folder for it not too start as soon as I power on.

For some reason this Sony untility is running when I have it off in msconfig.

Do I goto C: and move the folder or how does this work? Thanks
