Default Sound

I have an HP Pavilion running windows ME, and when windows starts the sound
it plays at startup skips. Any other time the sounds are ok. Is there an
easy fix to this?

Thank you for this and all previous help. These groups are great!!!

Tom,
I too had a WinME that used to stu..stu..stutter when playing the Microsoft
Sound at Startup. It also used to stu..stu...stutter when doing almost any
other sound related task.
After persisting with it like this for about 18 months, and try all sorts of
things to fix it, I stumbled over the solution by accident.
It turned out to be the NAV 4 I was using.
I replaced NAV 4 with Nav 2002, which fixed the stuttering, but brought it's
own hell.
I finally ditched all things Symantec, and started using AVG 6 Free Version,
and my machine worked better than I believed was possible.

You are not, perchance, using NAV (Norton Anti virus) are you?
If so, try disabling the Auto protect at Startup, and see if that fixes your
stu..stu..stuttering sound.

If you are not using NAV, then use MSconfig to disable everything but
*Statmgr from Startup, and see if that fixes your sound.
If it does, then enable one thing at a time to see which one breaks your
sound.
When you find the culprit, you can deal with it however you see fit.

Good Luck.
