Default Win-98SE, w/IE-6 Browser

Hello Group,
I am having a problem... w/IE-6w/SP1 & all updates. I'm hoping someone will
respond to me in this group. I surely can't be the ONLY one w /this problem
while RUNNING W98-SE and IE Browser 6.0-SP1.

I have NO other current problems while running IE Browser... hoping someone
can direct me to the path for a fix..

My Browser crashes w/Macromedia Flash Player, vs. 7.0. I have completely
uninstalled the Flash Player using the uninstall application at
Macromedia.com and have manually removed any traces remaining from my puter.
OK, I reinstall from Macromedia and it still keeps happening...

Does anyone have a success story for this problem??

After error repting. this is the info:

Not Found: Contact Macromedia, Inc.

Turn off the IE6 error reporting tool, per the instructions for Windows 98 in this
article -
Description and availability of Internet Explorer Error Reporting tool:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=276550

quote
In Registry Editor (Regedit.exe), create a DWORD value called IEWatsonEnabled and
set it to 0 in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
/quote

Then the next time you have the problem, you will receive a regular "illegal
operation" error mesage. When you get the "illegal operation" error message, click
the "Details" button, and post back with the exact details word for word, up to but
not including the memory registers.

Funny, I tried to update Shockwave today and discovered that the MVP HOSTS file
has those sites redirected. If you want to update Shockwave, and you use a HOSTS
file for protection, be sure to disable those redirections. I'm not sure about
Flash updates, though. Mine's already up to date, and I got tired of messing
with it.

The HOSTS file carries this advisory:

# [MACROMEDIA][flash ads][entries may prevent updates]
127.0.0.1 active.macromedia.com
127.0.0.1 download.macromedia.com
# 127.0.0.1 fpdownload.macromedia.com
# 127.0.0.1 pinger.macromedia.com
127.0.0.1 sdc.shockwave.com
127.0.0.1 macromedia.speedera.net

Another advisory is this one:

127.0.0.1 altfarm.mediaplex.com #[prevents login -ebay.co.uk]
