Default Black Screen Upon Startup

I am reposting this as a new message because my two replies have still not
loaded since yesterday.
MY RESPONSE:
11/15/2004 PM

I did the SCANREG /FIX from SafeMode and it freezes on the black screen that
says
Please wait while setup updates your configuration files. This may take a
few minutes.. Completed updating files, continuing to load Windows..

But it didn't ever load and I had to power off to get it unfrozen.

I then uninstalled Zone Alarm and when it restarted it did the same thing
and froze on the same screen.
please help, deidra

YOUR RESPONSE:
Try booting to Safe Mode, and Uninstalling Nero - then run SCANREG /FIX
from a command prompt.

See if that helps
