Chuck,
You can download the image of a Win Me OEM boot disk from www.bootdisk.com. Download to your desktop, double click to run and follow the prompts to transfer the image to a floppy. Do NOT copy the downloaded file to a floppy - that won't make a bootable floppy but instead a floppy disk containing the file you downloaded. This can be done on any PC and then the floppy used with the PC you want to clean install Win Me. to DOS. -- Mike Maltby Chuck wrote: I was wondering if there was a way i could legaly obtane the setup floppy(s) that come with ME. i cant get into the bios to switch it to boot from cd and i want to install a clean copy of ME but cant without booting from floppy first. |

Mike,
Thanks for the help i also had a question about Microsoft office. Would it be possible to install a copy of MS Office on an earlier version of windows. Like Office 2002 on Windows ME? Just curious because all i have is office 98 and 2002 so i would prefer the newer one but if its not possible... Thx Chuck "Mike M" wrote: Chuck, You can download the image of a Win Me OEM boot disk from www.bootdisk.com. Chuck,
MS Office 2002 (aka Office XP) and Office 2000 can both be installed on Win Me without problem. You cannot however install Office 2003 or any of its components on Win Me as Office 2003 needs the operating system to be Windows 2000 SP3 or later or XP or later. -- Mike Maltby Chuck wrote: Thanks for the help i also had a question about Microsoft office. Chuck,
Best of luck. You will find that there is a newsgroup (discussion as you call them) for all of Microsoft's various products, often many for each product with each focussing on a different aspect, including those recently or even not so recently discontinued. Whilst you are accessing these newsgroups using Microsoft's web interface you might find using a news client such as Outlook Express to be preferable. Regards, -- Mike Maltby Chuck wrote: Mike, Thanks for the help. i just recently found out about this discussion and its really helpful. i wosh i would have known about this earlier. Thanks again |
