Windows 98 & Wireless Networking
I have recently purchased a new PC running XP with
broadband internet access. I want to connect my older PC (running Windows 98) via a wireless network. My question is, assuming that I use a suitable router, what type of wireless card will work with Windows 98 or is it not possible to achieve a reliable connection? Is it more feasible to install say Windows 2000 instead as I know that wireless cards work fine with that setup. |

Check the retail box or the manufacturer's web site for information on a particular card. If you have the original version of Windows 98, there are fewer choices. I've used these wireless network adapters successfully on original Windows 98: USB: Netgear MA101, Netgear MA111 Cardbus: Netgear MA401, Microsoft MN-520 According to their web pages, these adapters should work on original Windows 98, too: Cardbus: Orinoco Classic Gold PC Card PCI: Netgear MA311, Orinoco 11b -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see. I'm sorry, but I don't answer questions addressed directly to me in E-mail or news groups.
