I have PC running ME with three haed drives, C. D and E and when I start or

Okay, I'll look into it, do you have a recommendation for a firewall and
AV that doesn't promte a "Yeurgh!g"

Almost anything that doesn't come with either 'Norton' or 'Symantec' on the
box would do!g

Personally, I use AVG (free version), and Kerio (also free - and v2.x at
that!)

AVG does have its faults - but it's never really let me down yet (perhaps
because it doesn't get to see many viruses anyhow), and certainly has NONE
of the major problems that NAV has with ME.

Firewalls, I'm the last person you should be asking!
With a dialup connection, my attack surface is relatively low-profile, and
changeable, so I've never had to stand up to some of the more concerted
attacks that can happen (not to mention that I'm normally running XP, with
the ICF switched on, as well as the Kerio running).

HTH, and good Luck

You could do a lot worse than the free version of Zone
Alarm.
