Default Hibernation?

How can I get my IBM Thinkpad T21 in hibernation mode? I've created the
hibernation file (256MB) with PhDskWin utility downloaded from IBM.
I can use standby mode, but I don't know how to use hibernation.
Could you help me?
My OS is Windows 98SE Finnish.

I know that I should buy XP, 'cause 98 sucks...

Look in Control Panel - Power Options.
If 'Hibernate' is not mentioned here, it means your system hardware
does not support that function.
Alternatively, Windows will disable Hibernation if it detects any incompatible
device drivers. In this event, it creates a file called 'nohiber.txt'.
Reading this
should reveal which drivers are not compatible. Updating the affected drivers
may solve that problem.

Finally, as an XP user, I'm not even sure if Win98 supports hibernation.
Most of what I've written above refers to Win ME, but I thought it may just
be relevant to you as well.
Mine Win 98 wouldn't hibernate when I use to have it, but that was an older
machine so could have been
a hardware rather than software limitation. I could suspend in 98 but not
hibernate.
And even suspend was a bit 'hit and miss', no doubt caused by a device driver.
