help...seemingly unfixable registry error in Media player
I currently have (and had) 7.1 on my system but made the mmistake of upgrading to 9. Simply put there was all sorts of chugging. I removed the program and re-installed 7.1 and for some reason now when I try to acces the "formats" section of the options menu I get a small registry error pop-up. when I clear the pop up the area usually reserved for clicking the desired media is empty. I have re-installed both Win98 SE as well as media player with the same results. should I possibly try again with the add/remove programs then check and see if any of the mplayer files are still on my system then re-load again ...or what? any suggestions? I *might* be missing a file called mciole.dll but I'm not sure and if so, where it goes... Media player (BASIC) has no problem with seeing this on the Options window...but installing 7.1 and I get the same problem. I also checked out http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html with no leads. You may get more responses here, but you will get *correct* responses in the
mediaplayer group. You should follow up there. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Robyn, Duke of Amber" wrote in message ... Media player (the basic install that comes with the OS ) has no problem with seeing this on the Options window...but installing 7.1 and I get the same problem. I have run registry checkers/cleaners and they don't show any problem related to mediaplayer. I also checked out http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html to no avail. I've considered the possibility of uninstaling and re-installing IE (6) as it draggs along mplayer....but have not done this. There does not seem to be much help in that group anymore....sorry. Not trying to
give you the runaround, but try posting at this group instead: news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...wsmedia.player There is at least one mediaplayer MVP frequenting that group. Please let us know if you get any help there. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Robyn, Duke of Amber" wrote in message ...
