I've lost the option to create New Folders!
Dear all,
Today I tried to create a 'new' folder. Normally I get the option by right-clicking on the mouse and selecting 'New Folder', but when I looked, the option wasn't there! - Nor is it under 'File' at the top of the screen. I don't know what the hell I've done, but I would dearly like to regain this option! I tried 'Ghosting' up my previous backup, but it wasn't there either (It's some time since I created a 'new' folder). How can I regain the facility to create new folders? What is missing from the registry, and how can I put it back? I don't really want to 'Ghost' up my PC from way back when.... All assistance greatly appreciated. Just before I go, is it likely that the inability to create a 'new' folder is related to some sort of WINME security update (like the inability of links to open when my pages are selected as 'web' folders?) -- Regds, Russell W. And you have almost certainly also lost the ability to select thumbnail
view in Windows Explorer and to share individual folders with other users. If you wish to fix this you need to mail me. The fix on the Aumha site will only fix the inability to select New Folder and not thumbnail view or the sharing of folders (only of relevance to those on a LAN). -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Russell W. Thanks, Mike.
However.... I am thinking of upgrading to winXP Pro. Would this re-introduce any missing wossnames with an upgrade over winME (I don't fancy an install-from-cold)? I f I decide not to upgrade, I shall certainly be in touch. I got my 'new' option back, BTW, after downloading the registry patch! (I can live without thumbnails for now, I suppose). -- Regds, Russell W. B. http://www.huttonrow.co.uk Please replace appropriate text with punctuation when replying by Email! Its your choice of course entirely whether to repair part rather than all
of the problem. vbg If you want to repair all of the damage caused by the nVidia installer you only have to e-mail me. :-) Whilst I cannot guarantee it I would expect that upgrading Win Me to XP would probably fix the problem. Also I'm not aware of the nVidia installer causing similar damage when used with XP although the key removed is identical in both systems. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Russell W.
