The first has a list.......the second, iceows, is what (I think) was
formerly arjFolder, worked great with Me and covered virtually all
compression formats.

Re "Win Me's built in Compressed folders facility", I

knew I
could right click on a .zip and select "Extract All" to
unzip but honestly did not know what application was

being
used. Where do I find the "Compressed folders facility"

in
my system?

If installed (Add/Remove Programs | Windows Setup | System

Tools - Details
| check "Compressed Folders", then click OK, Apply and

finally reboot)
"Compressed Folders" is part of the shell, that is the

GUI.

Does it allow you to also "zip" files?

Yes. Select the files to be zipped, right click and then

Send To and then
Compressed Folder. You can then rename the "compressed

folder", which is a
zip file, to suit your requirements.

I didn't see 7-zip mentioned in the recommendations. It's also worth
looking at.

Hey Heirloom,
Thanks for the links youngun. Appears there are mucho
choices. I didn't even realize I had a native zipper,
'cepting in my pants, until Mike M educated me. (Thank
goodness he does that quite often.) I will have to
experiment with some of the programs and see which fits my
level of dumbness. Take care my man.

Job asks, "If try to fail and succeed, have I failed or
succeeded?"

Hi Tom V,

I've seen 7-zip mentioned in other forums as a good one. I
will add it into potentials. My confidence level increases
when this Newsgroup suggest things. Thanks for your input.

stroll, chill and such yet here I am like Old MacDonald with
a here zip, there zip, everywhere zip, zip."
