When clicking on "Run Cleaner" after "Analyzing", the following message
appears: "This process will permanently delete files from your system. Are you sure you wish to proceed?" Is it safe to delete the depicted files and if not, how can I tell the difference? There is supposed to be a backup, but I fail to find it. Anyone able to help? Harry. |

Harry,
How do I restore registry backups? Right-click on the .REG file created and select 'Merge'. By default these files will be saved into your 'My Documents' folder. Harry, there is no backup for the "crap" files that are found when doing the
cleanup analyzation. When you run the "Issues" there is an option to backup the Reg files to a location of your choice. Under "Options", "Advanced", just make sure there is a checkmark in the option to display a prompt for backup. At this point, the answer from oops! will apply. If it is of any comfort, I have yet to see any file in the 'cleanup' portion that was of any consequence and have been using this app for quite some time. For that matter, even though I have made some backups of the 'issues' found, I have not had to restore any of the Reg backups. This app did clear a suspicious entry that was creating a false positive with Sysinternals Rootkit Finder. It was due to an incomplete entry from some software (Sonic) that came with a DVD burner. Hope that eases your mind a bit. Heirloom, old and still cleaning mine "oops!!" wrote in message ... Harry, How do I restore registry backups? Right-click on the .REG file created and select 'Merge'. What would I do without you, H? The backup option is checked, but no prompt appeared when I ran the CCleaner. Why would that be? I remembered your good reports about CCleaner and hence went ahead with it. Hopefully no backup will be needed, but if so, maybe the prompter will show? Thanks H and Zee. Harry. Read my post again, Harry. There is NO backup on the "crap" files (when
you run the Cleaner).......only when you run the "Issues" that check the Reg. Click on the "Issues" button, then "Scan for Issues". When done scanning, click on "Fix Issues" (if any found, mine rarely shows any now) and you will be presented with the option to backup. Finally got it right, H. Thank you. The *Issue* really became an issue with me. Thanks for hanging in there with my pending impatience. Harry. "Heirloom" wrote in message ...
