Testing a NIC ?
Ok, I just installed cheap $14.99 Yahoo DSL without resorting to the
crazy Yahoo CD. I feel very unsure of this however. One thing that bugs me is my inability to test if the NIC is working. Also, since this is a laptop I have a PCMCIA NIC, and when I unplugged it yesterday and then plugged it back in Win98se wanted to reinstall the drivers. Can I abort or avoid such a reinstall and have it find the already installed driver? Any other sage advice? Thanks. ( http://www.dslreports.com/faq/8346 --- This procedure worked except for the temporary password. Sign up by modem and then plug your new ID and password into the 4100 address) |

I think my problem is Win98se or the NIC or both. How can you tell if a NIC is working? |
