Help System Hangs
This is driving me nuts........
I recently installed McAfee Security Suite 2005; I had a number of problems with the installation (full uninstall, reinstall, uninstall of the privacy Seville again (now left off) - system now slow. However, following this every time I go on the internet the system hangs after a period of time, (not a consistent measurable time period), not following the same series of events either. The control/Alt/Delete does work either - I end up having to restart the computer every time which is becoming very frustrating. It is as if there's something in the background taking all the resources and or waiting for a response - the mouse movement still works, but the whole desk top is frozen (no change, even if left for 5 minutes or more). To note - in order to run the McAfee Security Suite I had to upgrade to Outlook Express 6 and Internet Explorer 5.5 or above (Now at v6) System is 500 MHz, 256 RAM, Virus checked, defragged, etc......... Any help or suggestions greatly received Many thanks, Darren |

Haved you tried installling the service pack for IE6?
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;326489 If you have XP, go to control panel-adminstrative tools-event viewer and check for errors, if there are details, google them. I ran into this last November when I first installed McAfee Internet Security
Suite. And recent McAfee updates have put me back in the same situation. Between the Firewall and Privacy Service, the CPU is pegged at 100% not leaving any processing for anything else. I'm looking to fix this myself by reinstalling McAfee or changing to a new Security program altogether.
