Please help me - dead computer!
I was rearranging my IDE drives and their cables earlier
today, and now my computer wont start at all. The power supply fan wont even turn on. Ive gone through very basic troubleshooting techniques for this problem, and nothing has worked. Ive stripped the machine down to just MB, RAM, CPU and video card, and still nothing works. Im thinking its my power supply that decided to give up on me. But how would i figure out if its the power supply or my motherboard thats been damage by static electricity? Is there any way to find out other than replacing the psu? thanks |

Please help me - dead computer!
Power supplies are not usually damaged by static electricity - motherboards,
memory, cpu's etc are. Is the main power switch on the case working? Do you know how to use a volt-meter and measure the incoming voltage to see if it's getting through the power switch? Did you check the switch on the power supply itself to make sure you didn't turn it off? "Ameer K." wrote in message ... In addition, make sure you remove the cord from the back of the computer for
awhile - a few minutes - then plug it back in and retry. Also make sure the power supply connections to the motherboard is properly seated in the connector on the motherboard. Check to see that you didn't loose a screw or something which is lodged under the motherboard -- Jon Hildrum DTS MVP www.hildrum.com "Jerry" wrote in message ...
