Default Internet Wi-Fi Connectivity with W98

I still have a ThinkPad 240, which is loaded with W98 and I prefer to carry
because this notebook is much lighter than my current ThinkPad, and still
does many things. However, it is my belief that the 240 cannot take advantage
of Wi-Fi environments here and there because W98 does not support that
technology, even if the 240 has an Internet card in its PC card slot.

Does anyone know if there is a way to download files or drivers (whatever)
to make W98 able to connect to the Internet using a Wi-Fi card, or some other
device, in the card slot?

Thanks

WiFi Internet is available through either a laptop USB
device or a card in the laptop's slot. Both are usually
sold with drivers, if they require them. You may
have difficulty finding devices with Win98 drivers but
Win98 requires nothing further to connect by wireless.

Thanks Don. Since posting my question, I've learned that a PC Wi-Fi card that
is accompanied by a CD-ROM with drivers for W98 will work just fine (I have
an external CD-ROM player). So far, however, I've only been able to find a
card that has drivers for W98SE (not W98, which is what I have), so I'm still
looking and hoping to find one for W98.
Cheers.

I *think* a sitecom WL-170 will work on a W98, even with WPA. You can
download the driver he
http://www.sitecom.com/drivers_resul...&productid=524
to see if it installs. If yes, it not expensive, I bought it for 7.95 Euro,
and have it running on a W98SE laptop. I tried it on a W95OSR2 laptop, but
failed.

I have been happily using a wireless card for some years. The OS is
98SElite - that's 98SE, but with a lot hacked out; I don't know if that
makes it anything like 98FE. FWIW, the card I have is "802.11b Wireless
LAN CardBus (Mini-)PCI NIC".
