Default Blue screen at startup

When I start computer the desktop open but before everything loads up, the
screen turns blue and it says an error has occured to continue press enter to
continue. error 06:0200:0000081A When I press enter windows then loads. But
this happens every time. Also a box comes up and says selective startup when
I go to run msconfig and set at normal startup, apply and restarts computer
the same happens. And msconfig is still set at Selective startup

This sounds as though something that loads during windows startup,
possibly a device driver, is causing problems. Try going into safe mode
(often this can be done by pressing and holding down CTRL while the
machine is starting, as soon as the manufacturer's logo goes out, which
should bring up a menu). If there is no error message starting safe
mode, windows as such should be OK. In which case the usual procedure is
to use msconfig, disable everything and then try starting up with items
introduced one at a time until the culprit is identified.

If on the other hand safe mode does NOT work, then essential system
files may have become corrupted. Try booting from a floppy (ideally a
windows startup disk although your computer may have been supplied with
a recovery floppy disk) and running scandisk - it may tell you which
files are corrupt.

Michael.
