Default Display adapter problem

Hi

I have a problem with my display adapter at the moment. I have not
changed anything on my PC recently but this week the pc is refusing to
boot up properly.

It boots through config sys etc and my screen usually turns off then
comes back on into the windows login screen now it won't and turns off
then reboots, if i go into safe
mode it works and have found that in safe modei need to remove the
display adapter from system properties reboot and then letit find the
new display adapter and install
then reboot to get the correct resolution. It then seems to beok for
the rest of the day (i think even if i reboot though only tried that
once) But come next day i must repeat
the whole process again

What i plan to do next is to reinstall the driver from CD not let it
find the fiels on the hard drive as i am guessing that there is a
corrupt file which is casuign the problem
what i don't like is that i have to do it each day and wondering if
there is a more severe problem any ideas?

Regards

Richard

Default Display adapter problem

try this...
Reboot to Safe Mode
Open Device Manager
Remove ALL Display Adapters
Remove ALL Monitors
Remove ALL 'Other Devices' - if present
Reboot to Normal Mode - Windows will reinstall the required drivers -
hopefully curing your problem.

See if that helps

Are you also having to reset the time every day, by any chance?

Default Display adapter problem

Hi Noel

No thats just it everything else if fine (inc. the date and time) so
its not a bios battery problem. I will try your suggestions and
unistall all display adapters and monitors if the idea of reinstalling
display adpater from cd does not work this weekend
