Default complete shut-down

Hey. I have a question, obviously. The other day, my
computer froze, so I did the automatic Control-Alt-Delete
method to shut it down. Well, instead of starting back up
like normal, the whole Windows restarted and asked for my
user name and long twenty-something number. After digging
through the files and entering that number, I proceeded
in starting the computer back up with the
multiple 'Next's. I pushed finish, and then that's where
I got stuck. I sat there waiting for everything to load
back onto my background, and nothing happened. My mouse
will move around, but that's about the extent I can do.
No toolbar at the bottom of the screen, no icons,
nothing. I was wondering what to do? Thanks.
Baylor
