When you get an "illegal operation" error message, click the "Details" button, and
post back with the exact details word for word, up to but not including the memory
registers.

I'm having the same problem. It's not just explorer though, spool32 and others are doing the same. Tried to re-install ie6 as suggested in other posting but it bombed out as well.

I'm having similar problems, too. It's no just Explorer though, Spool32 and others are doing the same. Tried to re-install IE6 as suggested in an earlier posting but the installer failed with same error.

Anyone any ideas?
