Default system restore problem

Mike
I tried what you said but when I try to extract the
winspool.dll file I get the error message "the spcified
file is protected and may not be copied over or deleted. I
also was unable to get any info from MS support using KB
265371

Help

Were you in Safe Mode? Did you follow the procedure set out in KB265371
required for replacing files that are in use even when in Safe Mode? If not
is there any particular reason why not?

So the answer remains the same and at this point the only person who can help
you is yourself by following the instructions that have already been posted.

That has to be your decision. Personally I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy
to install and use Symantec malware unless I was in a very vindictive mood and
wanted to really see them suffer.

No, instead you have to read and follow the instructions I have posted and
also those in KB265371, If you have difficulties then I would suggest you ask
a friend to help you.

If you can't replace winspool.drv in Safe Mode, extract a copy to your
desktop, rename it winspool.new and place in your windows\system folder. Now
boot to DOS using a floppy and rename winspool.drv to winspool.old and then
rename winspool.new to winspool.drv.

OK
I extracted the winspool.dll as instructed in 265371 but I
do not understand what they mean in step 9"drag the folder
on drive c to the locatin of the file that you replaced"
