Is there someone in your family or one of your friends who
can loan you the recovery disk? That is if they have the same computer as yours. Or maybe if you are close to someone here at this support board, maybe this person can make a copy of the recovery disk and mail it to you. I don't know if that would be possible. Good luck |

Good luck "Recovery CD" is a generic term applied to any licensed third-party version of Windows, ie: M$ didn't produce the disk; it was manufactured by a large computer company for use on their system(s); as such it contains only the files which are relevant to the specific computer model. They never work on other computers; someone would have to have the exact same manufacturer/model of computer system. Rick |

Since HP offers 'extended support' on all their computer models, it's a sure bet they *do* have a copy of that Recovery CD sitting around somewhere for use when somebody sends a system in for repair, even if they don't offer it for sale; be a little more persistent; try a few more departments, quote your model #, serial # original PO #, whatever... all they have to do to keep their customer happy is spend 2 minutes making a CDR and toss it in the mail to you. In the meantime, what specific problems are you having? Perhaps we can duct-tape and string your system back together again. Rick |

I agree with you completely. That is why I said in my
paragraph, "That is if they have the same computer as yours." My girlfriend and I have the very same computer -- same model numbers (of course, different serial numbers). Just tonight I found out that I can't find the QuickRestore diskette or whatever that will restore my computer back to its originality when I bought it. I guess I can borrow my girlfriend's CD, can't I? Let me know please. |
