Task Bar Question
Some how the Task Bar/Sys Tray at the bottom of Desktop has started acting
weird. I've got 98SE. The 3 Startup Icons that were to the left of the clock are now under the clock. The one other Task Icon that was to the right of the Quick Launches is now under them, so to use any of those Apps, I have to pulled up the Task Bar/Sys Tray to 2 or 3 times it's normal height. I've not added anything to them it just started acting funning on it's own. Any help/suggestions out there? -- Thanks.....Bill Please reply to the Newsgroup ONLY |

Task Bar Question
First, make sure AutoHide is turned off for the taskbar:
Right-click the taskbar, click Properties, uncheck Autohide, and click OK. Put your mouse pointer on the top of the taskbar, so it turns into a two-headed arrow. Click and hold the primary mouse button, and drag the top of the taskbar DOWN, till it totally disappears at the bottom of the screen, leaving only a thin line. Now, put the mouse pointer at the bottom of the screen till it becomes a two-headed arrow, and click/drag the taskbar UP, but only to the thickness of the clock numbers. Does anything change? If that does not change anything, start in SAFE MODE, drag the taskbar down to normal size there, then restart in normal mode. To start in Safe Mode: - Start the computer and hold down the CTRL key till the Windows 98 Startup menu (boot menu) appears. OR - Repeatedly tap the F8 key after the memory count to bring up the boot menu. - Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" and press Enter. Task Bar Question
Hmmmm.....
How long has it been this way? If ther problem is less than 5 days old or so, you can try a Registry restore to the date just prior to the start of the problem, but do NOT restore a Registry older than a week or so. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Willy" wrote in message ...
