Default Install Issues

Hey Folks,

Here is the deal:

Installed winXP on a pc, but it didnt quite have enough resources to run it.
This PC does NOT have a floppy.

I managed to make myself a win98 boot CD which worked fine.

Now, after using fdisk, and formatting and all that stuff, I go to install
win98, which goes perfectly right up until it gets to the point where it
starts detecting the hardware. At this point, it freezes dead in its tracks.
Naturally, I reboot and let it re-try, but it does the same thing.

What can I do to fix this? Is it something wrong with the install CD?
Harddrive?

Anything would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Aaron

At what point in the passage of time, after hardware detection initiated,
did you determine that the installation was hung?
