Dialup Broken
Not simply a DNS problem. Won't ping any IP addresses outside the computer
itself. 127.0.0.1 is OK. The local IP address is OK. That is all...... Can't ping the DNS servers or any other numerical / IP address.... Have removed TCP/IP Have removed Windows Communications .... and reinstalled of course. No improvement. Any suggestions? TIA, Fred |

Carey,
Thanks so much for the response! Good to hear from you. I had tried one of the other tips, #24. I'll check out #3 in some detail. I may have said that the ethernet interface on this computer works just fine! It's only the *dialup* that fails to ping anything outside. Fred "Carey Holzman" wrote in message ... Carey,
Ummmm.... it appears that #24 is the "manual" version suggested in #3. I've already done that. Let me ask: What happens if you reboot where it says "don't reboot"? Carey,
Well, I did it accidentally and it didn't seem to make a difference. But then, the problem wasn't solved either! So, how do I know it didn't make difference? I could imagine that some settings might be lost by rebooting but that didn't seem to happen. Fred "Carey Holzman" wrote in message ... I don't know... you tell me. you may have spyware
Such errors are often caused by spyware - download AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to remove spyware, adware, and other such nasties from your system. also run the LSPFix from here http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2005, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Fred Marshall" wrote in message ...
