microsoft i e has encountered a problem and needs to close
First try running the following command:
regsvr32 oleaut32.dll If that doesn't work, extract a fresh copy of oleaut32.dll using system file checker or MSCONFIG depending on your operating system (sadly we don't know what you are using). -- Hyperlinks are used to ensure advice remains current _______________________________________ Sandi - Microsoft MVP since 1999 (IE/OE) http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/ corn wrote: i have been using ie 5.5 for a long time i use internet banking and one of the sites wouldnt let me access my account stating for me to upgrade to ie 6.0 and i did since this upgrade i get a pop up that says: microsoft ie has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience if you were in the middle of something the information may be lost there is a checked box with restart microsoft ie then continues to say please tell microsoft about this problem we have created an error report that you can send to help improve microsoft ie we will treat this report as confidential and anonymous to see what data this error report contains click here it has send error report or dont send when i veiw the report it is as follows appname iexplore.exe modver 2.40.45150 appver 6.0.2800.1106 offset:0006ac21 modname oleaut.32dll when i uninstall the ie 6.0 my machine will not go back to 5.5 it will return to its original download with ie 5.0 and the online banking wont let me access site i believe the 6.0 is the problem but i cant seem to fix it please help thank you |

Hi Corn,
Go to this URL: http://support.microsoft.com/default...asp&SD=MS&FR=0 Do a search for oleaut32.dll. You will be able to work out what is the correct version of the file for your operating system and will also be able to find *where* you can find a fresh copy, whether it be a cab file on your operating system install disk, or in the folder 'windows update setup files'. -- _______________________________________ Sandi - Microsoft MVP since 1999 (IE/OE) http://inetexplorer.mvps.org "corn" wrote in message ... i am running win98se with ie 6.0 i use run: msconfig i have done the first part regsvr32 oleaut32.dll and a pop up comes up ok but i am still having the initial problem listed below how do i extract a fresh copy of oleaut32.dll thank you "Sandi - Microsoft MVP" wrote: First try running the following command: regsvr32 oleaut32.dll If that doesn't work, extract a fresh copy of oleaut32.dll using system file checker or MSCONFIG depending on your operating system (sadly we don't know what you are using).
