Default Cpu upgrade #2 TO dadiOH

Don't get so wound up. This happens a lot in ngs.

I can't believe I'm responding to the same person who critized my post. Why
couldn't you respond in the civil way as you do now. We don't know each
other. I admit it was my fault in omitting vital info of my system. That is why
I entered the #2. I thank you for advising me on that. I have an external ati
usb tv tuner that worked just fine when i had win98. Now, that i bought a new
computer of which I gave my stats, with xp, and so called updated drivers for
xp, I'm having a difficult time getting it to work. I've been exchanging emails
with ATI tech's for months, and getting no where. Finally one of them suggested
that I upgrade my cpu, video card and usb software. The cpu confuses me,
because at Intel they have a later version which i d/l for my cpu socket. So I
was suprised to hear that one has to actually replace the cpu. I am not going
to do that, I just bought this computer 6 months ago. The speed is 2.8Ghz. My
hd is 80gigs, so the unit should be able to run easily on this computer..but
even I know its a lot saying then doing when it comes to drivers. This unit
does not come with card. Well, I did upgrade the video card, which the tech
says to make sure it has Direct Sound. I don't know what they mean, and of
course they don't explain. The usb has 2.0 drivers are installed. So even with
their suggestion I can't get it to work fully. I get all the 5 features, and
they all work fine except for the TV display, which is the most important. Each
time I click on it to start, the screen goes black and xp reboots...

I am not the one who responded critizing your post.

If you post back as a reply to the person that you are responding to, it would
make things clearer.

Now that you stated what you are trying to install, I believe you will get some
help.
Please post the model and/or version of the ATI USB tv tuner.
Your new system is plenty powerful enough for that item.

You aren't responding to anyone. You are creating a new post.

I think this is an XP question. XP questions should be asked in an XP
newsgroup. People who respond in a W98 newsgroup will tend to assume that
you are using W98 and may give wrong advice.

You didn't respond, you started still another thread. Go back to what I said in the first place and read about how to reply to a post.

This whole thread reminds me of an elderly neighbor of mine. When he
bought his PC at BestBuy in 97 the salesman told him that the price did
not include the monitor, just the modem, keyboard and mouse. To
this day he still calls the case a modem.

I left out my system as is. Its P4 800, 512mb, 2.8 gig mhz with usb
2.0 ports.

What a waste...

Soooo True....
