Bios disabled? To Glee29
The problem is likely with the BIOS on the separate controller card being disabled,
or the drivers not being installed. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Anthonage" wrote in message ... Is it SCSI or IDE? Bios disabled?
Your additional IDE controller card might well have a BIOS (like a SCSI
controller does) and if it detects no attached disk it might disable itself and make an announcement. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (DTS) "Anthonage" wrote in message ... The BIOS it refers to is not the motherboard BIOS, but is something like a SCSI hard disk controller BIOS. In this case the message is probably correct and can be ignored, unless you You know, I think you hit on something. I do have a controller card installed that is suppose to give me my total useage of a 40 gig hd. The original Bios is limited to 32 gigs. I did try to reinstall the software for the controller card...but something is preventing me in doing so. I keep getting message that no Fixed hd found. Last time I used this computer, prior to removing the hd and controller card, it was working just fine..no virus. |

Your additional IDE controller card might well have a BIOS (like a SCSI

Well, I did some more tweaking and some how I've managed to get rid of that Bios disabled message. At Post time, I was able to see the name of my hd and 38000 gigs, so that must mean my bios of the controller card is working and acknowleged the hd. ..and yet as the post progress it still says no driver found. Go figure. Anyhow with my startup disk, I was not able to get my cd rom driver installed. It says no driver found again. I went to Fdisk and this time I was able to see my hd info. I have C, D,and E partitions. I made C active and then later did sys C: It worked ' systems transferred' came on. So now the problem is that I cannot get my cd rom acknowledged. Without that I cannot install my OS on drive C: for that was empty as a slave drive on the other computer. One other thing, is it possible that my power supply is not working? But then again, if its not, how am I able to get to the point I have arrived at? |

Bios disabled? T0 JRichards
You can check power to the CD by simply trying to open the drawer with the
front panel button - if the drawer opens it is powered. The bootdisk creating utility available at www.bootdisk.com provides drivers for almost all known CD drives. The only exception should be drives that use a custom port on a sound card. Unless you drive is a very unusual type, this bootdisk should work. If it doesn't, you should check whether the CD drive has failed, or whether there's some problem with the installation. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (DTS) "Anthonage" wrote in message ... The problem is likely with the BIOS on the separate controller card being
disabled, or the drivers not being installed No, the controller is okay, i believe it was my m.b. But now I don't get that message anymore..still can't get to use my cd rom for os installation. |

What controller is the CD-ROM on....the motherboard or the add-on controller card?
