Default CPU update

I was told by my program manufacturer ( ATI ) that in order to get my program
to work I should upgrade my cpu, video card and usb. ..but to call my vendor
first. i did call my vendor and he says you cannot upgrade a cpu. The only way
is to replace it with another cpu. Is this true? I don't know if he's knows
what he's talking about..so much for vendor support tech help.

Hi,

........you cannot upgrade a cpu. The only way is to replace it with
another cpu.

That's true. Every time you upgrade hardware you're actually replacing
something with a faster, bigger, shinier something or other.

If you do replace your processor/cpu, don't forget to read your
motherboard manual as there may be some jumpers or other settings that
need changing too.

You cannot upgrade a CPU. You may be able to replace the CPU on the
motherboard with a faster CPU, but this depends on the motherboard.
Generally, it's more effective to replace the whole motherboard.

I think it is your program manufacturer that is feeding you the line.
Blaming the hardware is a common excuse for faulty software. However, if he
is telling you that his software will only run on Windows XP, and that you
will need a faster CPU to run Windows XP, then there's some truth to his
comment.

WTF is your problem? Tech help gave you your answer, can't upgrade a =
CPU

BTW, when you want to augment a post you *Reply* to your original one =
rather than just making another post with a number. That way all the =
info is in one thread where people can read it in its entirety..
