Default running win98 setup from a hard disk

I was wondering if anybody could tell me how copy the
win98 file to the hard drive and load from there?

Thanks

You could make a directory on a formatted hard drive (C: drive) to hold the
installation files. Let's say for example you want to call the directory
(or folder) "W98install". After you create the folder, you would copy the
entire contents of the WIN98 folder on the CD to the folder you created on
the C: drive. Make sure your HD has been FDISK'ed and formatted, and boot
the computer with a boot floppy, go to a C:\ prompt. To create a directory
and copy the installation files, it would look something like this: (where
MD stands for the DOS command to make a directory)

C:\md W98install (or call this anything you like)
cd\W98install (this changes you to the directory you just created)
copy E:\WIN98\*.* (where "E" is the drive letter of your CD-ROM)

This will copy all of the installation files from the CD to your HD. After
the copy is complete, make sure you are in the "W98install" directory, and
at the prompt type "setup" (without the quotes) and hit Enter. Setup should
begin.

Hope this doesn't sound too convoluted. I'm sure there are others who can
explain this better than I.

Good explanation but quiet lengthy.
Look this one over.

Putting Win on a blank HD
Start the PC with a boot floppy
at the A prompt type this in.

MD C:\Win98 enter
Copy E:\win98 C:\win98 enter
Remove the floppy and type in
C:\win98\setup: enter

If the hard disk is blank then the first command will fail.
