Unable to browse network neighborhood
Hello...
On a Win98 (not SE) machine, I can ping the file server, and am getting shared drives at logon, but I can not browse network neighborhood; I get the "Unable to browse..." error upon clicking the NN icon. I need to browse the neighborhood because a program requires the full UNC path. I have TCP/IP and it's DHCP. I can ping the server and can print. I've tried with and without NetBeui, no difference. I have Client for Microsoft Networking (set as default), Windows Family logon, etc. I can map a drive using \\servername\sharename, and can see the servername using Find Computer. The server is a Windows 2003. The computer has a unique computername and is a member of the appropriate workgroup. I do NOT get the error on a Win98SE machine. It's been a while since I did Win98 networking, so forgive me if I'm missing something obvious. Thx, D. |

Oh yes, of course. That's how I'm able to get shared drives. Any other suggestions? Thx, D. |
