When it comes to TEMP folders, anything that you *can* delete is safe to
delete. If you can't delete it, it's in use and you want to leave it

alone.

You might want to read my article, "Clean Boot -- What it is and why you
need it." Has some useful info regarding the TEMP files.

Thank you for your help. I was actually trying to figure out whether I
needed these files in my Temporary folder or if they were just taking up
space and checking their properties didn't really help.

Not all files have "file associations", executables that automatically
launch when you try to open the file. LOG and TMP files normally have

no
file associations. Instead, for LOG files, use NOTEPAD.EXE to read

them.
You
can try that for the TMP files, too, but you may not be able to read

them as
they may not be in plain text.

I can understand why you might want to read a LOG file, but why do you

want
to read TMP files?

It's wise to delete Temporary Internet Files *before* doing something like
this.

Glee-

Thanks for the suggestion. I had to jump through a few more hoops than what
you stated, but I got the Notepad destination into Sendto. I had to find my
identity under C:\, open that and find "Sendto" (not terribly difficult),
then add a shortcut to "Notepad.exe" in the Windows folder.

I'll probably use it soon.

Stay safe, and may G-d bless. I wish you His peace.

Default missing files

Gary........having read this explanation....and not being a puter person of
much knowledge.......is this similar to my problem ? I'am getting kicked
out of Internet Explorer6 quite often ( have downloaded again / updates with
no help) I have Windows 2000 Professional on an older HP Pavilion. I'm on
cable ( comcast) . Its been working great ,,,then all of a sudden I start
getting a "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encoundtered a problem and must
shut down." it asks if I want to report it ,,,I click on yes.....then it
gives me a window that reporting has finished and if I'd like more
infomation..click here.
when I do so I get another window or "program not found" "windows cannot
find blank.exe / this program is needed for opening files of type 'URL:Hyper
Text Transfer Protocol.'
Could of this file been deleted accidently ? as I constantly defrag runs
scans etc to keep puter clean and running as fast as it can as stated its on
old one.
Is there somewhere to retrieve or download it as a replacement I guess you'd
say......as it is annoying being kicked out of explorer constantly,,,,,not
everytime,,,but in last 2 weeks or so more and more it seems.
Anyone plus yourself who might be able to help............Please do :- )..
annoyed in Jersey Thank You !

You are infested with malware. Go to this page and follow through all of the
procedures there. Does that fix things?

I should mention that it's the "blank.exe" part that is hinky. I thought I
knew of a more direct way to clean it up, but I can't find it now.
