Default Recycle Bin will not open

The Recycle Bin on my desktop will not open for some reason. I want to
delete items in the bin, but it won't open. Is there a way around this? I
am using Norton Anti-virus. Thanks for any help with this. Regards from
Texas.

The gurus are fast asleep as they are in the UK....but Noel should be
along shortly.

Your first mistake is Norton....it does NOT work at all with WinME!!
Noel can explain, but you really must get a different antivirus. I use
eTrust which can be obtained as a freebie....but first you must get rid
of all traces of Norton and that is a big chore!!

Heather is most correct with regard to the Norton.........it is bloatware
that will only give you grief in Me. Anyway, on to your issue:

You will need to boot from your EBD........Emergency Boot Disk.
It is possible that you will need to modify your Bios to enable booting from
the floppy drive and if you don't have an EBD, you can download one from
www.bootdisk.com , www.answersthatwork.com , or borrow one from someone else
with Me.
Once you have booted from the floppy, you should get the Startup Menu,
choose "Start computer with CD-ROM support."
After the process, you should have a prompt: A:\ , enter each of the
following commands, pressing Enter after each:
ATTRIB -R -S -H C:\RECYCLED [ENTER]

DELTREE C:\RECYCLED [ENTER]

Answer "Y" to confirm that you want to delete C:\RECYCLED.
The above commands will delete the Recycle bins from the C:\ drive. If you
are having problems with the Recycle bin on a seperate drive, i.e. D:\,
repeat the procedure for that drive.
Reboot your PC by hitting CTRL+ALT+DEL (don't forget to reset your Bios if
you made changes to boot from the floppy)
Windows will create new Recycle bins, anything you had in them will be gone
and hopefully, this should resolve your issue.
