Win Updates minor problem
On my main computer I keep getting Update messages. It's always a security
update. OE 6 SP 1 KB837009 It's been installed numerous times but everyday up pops the message. I usually just close it but occasionally go to Windows Update, and there it is waiting to be installed. My two test computers have no record of KB837009. Any ideas as to how to stop getting the message? Galen |

PA Bear is the legit expert on this. Maybe wait for him, BUT...
It could be these three needed to come in, in the following sequence... (a) Q330994 (b) Q837009 (c) Q823353 (This is 3rd, but no longer offered at Windows Update.) And, "Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Install/Uninstall tab" for me shows... Outlook Express Q823353 ....but it was Outlook Express Q837009 ....& before that Outlook Express Q330994. ....I never took Outlook Express Q887797, which also could be involved. Do you have any of the three/four? Then, uninstall whichever is in there, & go see what happens at Windows Update. Hopefully, it offers Q837009 to you one last time. -- Thanks or Good Luck, There may be humor in this post, and, Naturally, you will not sue, should things get worse after this, PCR "Galen Somerville" wrote in message ... | On my main computer I keep getting Update messages. I checked registry and have the same entries for the Q823353 with an
exception. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Advanced INF Setup\oeupdate] "BackupRegPathName"="C:\\PROGRA~1\\UNINST~1\\OEUPD ATE\\AINF0002" "InstallINFFile"="c:\\windows\\TEMP\\IXP000.TMP\\Q 823353_d.inf" Those two items are not listed and Q823353_d.inf is non-existant. Found no entries for Q837009 the IE,Help,About and the registry only show Q313829, Q912812, Q918439 and Q 916281 From a suggestion in a different message, I turned off the Task Manager. Hopefully that will stop the Update messages. Galen "Galen Somerville" wrote in message ... I printed that and will do some checking. Thanks Galen "PCR" wrote in message ... Hmm.
