help with an error message
Can anyone help me with this error message? Everytime I
start up my computer I get this box that reads: "Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\WILDTA~1\APPS\CDA\CDAENG~1.DLL" Then below this is the message "The system cannot find the path specified" and at the very top of the box on the left is the word "RUNDLL". I've run my virus scan, scan disk, and disk defragmenter and they've all done nothing for this, can anyone help me get this problem taken care of?! |

That looks like Wind Tangent - which is often installed with HP product
drivers (but is NOT part of them I suspect that you may have deleted the folder to which the shortcut is referring - open MSCONFIG, and uncheck the entry for that, and then reboot - you should have no more problems -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2005, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Lindsey" wrote in message ... You appear to have installed Wild Tangent which is usually installed as
part of an online game. More information about the various Wild Tangent components can be found at http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php?filter=tangent Since your system cannot find CDAENG~1.DLL it is possible that you have already uninstalled Wilt Tangent but left an entry in the registry that attempts to launch it each time you boot your system. Wild Tangent is a program which most users can probably do without and one that both SpyBot and AdAware should detect and help remove. The problem mainly relates to their Web Driver WCMDMGR.EXE which provides, often unwanted, "advanced multimedia capabilities" to your browser and is installed when a user clicks on a Wild Tangent game. You can check out http://www.wildtangent.com/ but make sure to have your guard up when doing so. The following quotes may help you understand what they do: "Implement a plug-and-play solution for generating new revenues through the distribution and sale of fee-based and subscription games, as well as rich media advertising campaigns." In other words adware and pop ups "WildTangent enables brand marketers to extend the footprint of traditional marketing campaigns with high production quality interactive games that engage consumers with your brand" In other words adware and pop ups - oh, but I've said that already. g "Develop games more efficiently and take advantage of opportunities for online distribution, advertising sponsorship, fee-based and subscription game sales. Develop ongoing relationships with your customers." And yes, you've guessed it already, more adware and popups. You should be able to uninstall Wild Tangent using Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. If not you will find manual removal instructions at http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner...nt/index.phtml but this appears to be currently off-line (possibly as a result of having offended the purveyor of some noxious commercial parasite) so you may need to use the Google cached copy (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=cac...ngent%22&hl=en). -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP [2001-2005] Lindsey wrote: Can anyone help me with this error message?
