Question Windows 98 to windows 98 2nd. ed. crashed!

Hi, I have a windows 98 and tried to change it to windows 98 2nd edition using a cd rom disc, and when it was changing over to back up files , it froze and then would not do nothing. After hours it was still just froze up. I shut the power off and then waited about 5 to 10 minutes and turned it on and it had no screen and nothing else, just blank! I am scsmith05 and at juno and dot com and would like to seriously have someone give me some expert advice as how to get it going again. I tried to push any of the F keys and the control keys and nothing happens, no screen is lit u0 and nothing, just he power noise of the fan. Thanks!

Do the lights on the keyboard blink as the keyboard is initialised during
startup? Is there a beep from the machine? If so, check the monitor cable
is connected properly. Replace the monitor with one that is known to be
working properly. If none of this works but the machine appears to be
running, the video adapter card may have failed. If the machine isn't
running at all then the CPU or RAM may have failed.
