I know most of the regulars may now be using either XP or Vista so am
curious if anybody has downloaded IE 8, and if so what the feedback might
be.

Thanks

I run Vista H/P w. SP1 and downloaded IE 8, but will wait with the
installation until I see better experiences than those displayed currently
in various ngs'. Some report satisfactory results, but the majority of them
are negative reviews as of now.
It may have to do with the preparation for installation, since there are
plenty of recommendations to be considered.
Therefore, if you do decide in favor, be advised accordingly.
Good luck,

Harry.

Thanks

Thanks Harry.

That's why I'm here; I know most of the regulars by reputation and I respect
their advice.

There does appear to be a bit more chatter with this release so I'll await
feedback.

Dan

I have installed IE 8 on three Vista PCs and five Windows XP PC's.
Performance, web page loading, security, etc. is outstanding!

IE8 works fine - although some users report problems when using Windows Mail
(NOT Windows Live Mail) in Vista. It does have some significant improvements
over IE7, and has a 'compatibility mode' for those (relatively few, AFAICT)
cases where the changes screw non-compliant websites.

IE8 has increased security and some of the features already in
Firefox/Chrome/Safari/Opera etc. It's slightly slower than IE7.

I am glad Dan brought this subject up. In Vista I am mostly using FF as of
late and therefore am in no hurry to install IE 8 on top of IE 7 and where
WinME is concerned, it can live nicely with IE 6.
Any suggestions for a better solution are welcome. H.

I downloaded and installed IE8 yesterday. Didn't experience any of the
problems reported with the beta version.

It's a little early to determine whether Microsoft's claim of faster and
more secure is accurate. It certainly doesn't appear to be faster but
hopefully it is more secure.

Thanks to all who provided feedback.

Dan
