HP Printer networking problem

I cannot set an address on the front of a 3500 printer. Perhaps a
4500, but not a 3500. That's why they have this external JetDirect
box. You can't do anything with this box except print config pages and
try to access it from the web. The config page tells me its set to a
default address of 192.0.0.192. HP's tech support pages say this is
kind of normal. I should access this address on my browser and the jet
direct webpage will open up. I just get an internet-error page. I
think I 'm at the end without help from HP or an HP specialist.

My apologies, I had you mixed up with another ongoing conversation, in
another group, about a 4550n with the same problem! First time in my years
here that I get an HP printer networking problem (other than my own) and I
get two in as many days!

I'm looking at HP support right now, but if that's the only address the
JetDirect can use, then I'm betting your router needs to be configured to
allow that address, since it isn't in the same normal range as I'd expect --
I'd expect anything in the 192.168.1.xxx range.

For you, pages 3-4 and 3-5 have info on changing the JD's IP.

You're using Win98, right? Here's what I get when I do Add Printer:
1. Add Printer
2. Next
3. Choose "Network Printer"
4. Next dialogue asks for printer name or IP address. This is where you
should use the IP address that belongs to the JetDirect device.

I can't follow any further without messing up what I'm doing right now (a
looooong print job.) But is that what you have? Have you been using the IP
address there or only the printer name?
